- Find the meeting link. Open the email or text message with the invitation and look for a blue, underlined link — it usually starts with "zoom.us."
- Tap or click the link. This opens the meeting automatically in most cases.
- On a computer, if a pop-up appears asking to open the Zoom app: click "Cancel," then look for a small link at the bottom that says "Join from Your Browser." This lets you join without installing anything.
- On a phone or tablet, you'll usually need the free Zoom app. If you don't have it yet, your device will offer to download it from the App Store or Google Play — this only needs to happen once.
- Allow your camera and microphone. When a pop-up asks for permission, tap "Allow" so others in the meeting can see and hear you.
- Type your name and tap "Join." This is the name other people in the meeting will see.
- If you see "waiting for the host to let you in," that's normal. It's not an error — you'll be admitted in a moment.
- Check your camera and microphone icons at the bottom of the screen. If either one has a red line through it, tap it once to turn it back on.
A quick tip
You do not need to create a Zoom account or remember a password to join most meetings — the link the host sends you is all you need.
